Jon Jones

A co-founder of the Lama Golf Institute, Jon Jones started his

golfing days like so many youngsters with a plastic club and ball in

the back garden of his parents house. At the age of 10 Jon joined his Dad's golf club in Bridgnorth Shropshire and shot his 1st ever medal round of 143. After lots of dedication, patience and practice Jon advanced his handicap rapidly into single figures. From the ages of 14 Jon represented the County of Shropshire & Herefordshire at Junior & Senior levels, the Midland Schools Boys and the English Golf Union. The paid ranks were always an ambition of Jon's and not long after his 17th birthday signed his professional papers with PGA Professional Graham Farr. A Midland Region was Jon's 1st home as a PGA Assistant Professional. Jon passed his final exams in 2000 and claimed his PGA AA status. During this time Jon maintained a sharp eye on the golf course, he managed many wins in county and regional pro-ams, to stay inside the 25 on the Midland Order Of Merit, to keep an active PGA EuroPro Tour Card and win the 2000 Worcestershire Professional Strokeplay, the 2005 Worcestershire Open, the 2006 Shropshire & Herefordshire Order Of Merit and the 2007 Worcestershire Matchplay Tournament.

In 2008 Jon moved his career to North-East London to work for Scott Cranfield at the Cranfield Golf Academy. It is there that he met his friend, colleague and co-founder of The

Lama Golf Institute Shane Sheehy. It was in these early days that many of the Institute ideas were born.

Jon still enjoys playing golf with both friends and clients but it is his teaching career that has blossomed during his time as a professional and continues to do so. Jon is actively progressing his career through as many PDP seminars and courses that his free time will allow.

Jon's describes his goal as wanting to progress LGi and his personal golf career to the max over the next 5 years!
